Cinnamon and Chocolate old fashioned.

At Elite Bartending School, Orlando, we make a lot of real drinks, so our students can receive a top bartending education, that we provide our students here in beautiful Orlando

This is just another reason why we are the number one bartending school in Orlando.

Today we are going to discuss one of the most classic drinks of all times, The Old Fashioned.

The Old Fashioned is a simple drink that is hard to master, here at Elite Bartending School Orlando we will show you how to balance this drink to perfection.

The Old Fashioned is traditionally made by muddling sugar with bitters, then adding Bourbon Whisky, some bartenders like to use Brandy, however, here at Elite Bartending School Orlando we preferer to create this drink the “old fashioned’ way.

Today we are going to show you a little twist on this fantastic classic, replacing the regular Angostura bitters with chocolate bitters.

We are also going to smoke the glass with a cinnamon stick, allowing our customers to taste the drink first not last.

First things first, you need to make your home-made simple syrup, come learn how to make the perfect syrup at our Orlando location.

Then you need to select your favorite premium Bourbon Whisky, we have chosen to use Bullet Bourbon as it has a slightly harder flavor, this is going to balance out perfectly with our sweeter choice of bitters.

Then we need to be very careful adding our Chocolate bitters, too much will destroy the drink, so only add a few drops, before you stir all the ingredients together.

Yes, this is a stirred cocktail, at Elite Bartending School Orlando we go into the depths of why cocktails need to be shaken and some cocktails need to be stirred.

Before adding ice to your mixing glass,  light your cinnamon stick until it slightly flames and place on top of a bar spoon to keep the stick slightly elevated. This will \allow oxygen into the glass as you smoke the glass, keeping the cinnamon stick lit throughout the process.

Finally strain over a giant ice cube, garnishing the drink with your charcoaled cinnamon stick and add a cent of lemon to balance out this amazing cocktail. This will bring  out those wonderful hidden citrus flavors found in bourbon Whisky.

Remember, allow your customers to taste the drink first not last.
